Our Story

Sheffield Parkour & Freerunning is Sheffield’s original parkour club. We’ve been training in this city since 2005 – two decades of jams, demos, road trips and thousands of free sessions, long before parkour had gyms, governing bodies or a place in the Olympics conversation.

2005 – where it started

A handful of Sheffield lads, inspired by the parkour that had just exploded onto British screens, started meeting up to train on the city’s walls, rails and stairsets. No venue, no kit, no plan – just the discipline itself and a city full of stone and concrete to learn it on. That group became Sheffield Parkour & Freerunning, and the sessions have never stopped.

The early years – jams and the forum era

Through the late 2000s the scene grew fast. We hosted and travelled to jams across the north, trained with visiting practitioners, kept training diaries, and made the pilgrimage to Paris and Lisses – the suburb where parkour was invented. Sheffield became a fixture on the UK parkour map.

On the telly

Along the way the club appeared on BBC Look North, ran demos at Sheffield’s Cliffhanger festival, and hosted stops on the RGB Parkour Tour – bringing some of the best practitioners in the country to train in our city.

2014 – Endcliffe Parkour Park

In 2014, after a push from the local parkour community, Sheffield got one of the UK’s early purpose-built outdoor parkour parks, in Endcliffe Park. It’s been our home ground ever since – read the full Endcliffe Parkour Park guide.

Today

Twenty years on, the sessions are still free, still outdoors and still open to absolutely everyone – that has never changed and never will. Some of the people who turned up as kids in the early days still train with us now. If you’d like to be part of the next chapter, come to a session or join the Discord.
